Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Mission

The Junior League of Charlotte is dedicated to creating stronger communities, with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) woven into the heart of our mission. Our goal is to embed DEIB principles throughout our organization to better serve both our members and the Charlotte community.

We welcome women from diverse backgrounds who are united in their commitment to improving the mental and physical health and well-being of children in priority areas of Mecklenburg County.  We strive to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where every member feels seen, valued, and empowered to make a meaningful difference.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in Community Impact

The Junior League of Charlotte partners with local organizations and residents to design programs that are shaped by the lived experiences and voices of the communities we serve. As a diverse network of women volunteers and leaders, we bring vast perspectives, experiences, and strengths to our community work.

We focus our initiatives on supporting women and children, particularly in areas of Charlotte that have been historically underserved. Whether through mentorship, education, or workforce readiness programs, we prioritize solutions that are not only relevant and culturally responsive but also sustainable and community-driven.

Our collective strength—grounded in partnership, empathy, and a shared commitment to positive change—enables us to make a lasting impact that extends well beyond our direct involvement.

Ongoing Commitment to Progress

Our commitment to DEIB is an ongoing journey that is more important now than ever before.  Despite recent rollbacks and evolving initiatives, the Junior League of Charlotte remains steadfast and dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment—one where every member feels seen, heard, valued, and has a true sense of belonging.  

AJLI’s Statement

The Association of Junior Leagues International condemns discrimination, harassment, and mistreatment based on race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, religion, veteran status, or any other classification of persons who have been historically and systematically denied equity and inclusion in our economy, education, civic privileges, and responsibilities in the voluntary sector, including in The Junior League. As affirmed by our member Junior Leagues, we are accelerating our efforts to take action and advance definitive, measurable policies and practices that eliminate racism in our countries, our communities, and our Junior Leagues. When we do this, we unlock tremendous power for our communities and realize our vision of women around the world as catalysts for lasting change.
