President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC)!

My name is Amanda Kohout and I have the honor of serving as President of the JLC for our 2025-2026 League year. I am thrilled that you have found your way to our organization whether you are just looking for information or looking to become a member.

I have been in the Junior League of Charlotte since 2004 when I moved to Charlotte.  I was excited to join an organization that focused on training and developing women to affect meaningful change in the community.  Throughout the 20 years that I have been in the Junior League of Charlotte, I have met friends, developed skills I would not have received in my day job and made an impact in the community.

This League year leads us to the 100th anniversary of our organization.  The JLC was founded in 1926 when 30 women came together to establish the Junior League Baby Home to provide care for orphaned children.  Since then, we have donated over $13.7 million in grants and special projects and provided more than 1.6 million volunteer hours to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. This year we will continue to add to those numbers by donating time, talent, and treasure to four community partners: Second Harvest Food Bank, Classroom Central, Thompson Family, and Girl Flow.

We invite you to join us – Provisionals, Actives and Sustainers –to celebrate, support our continued growth, and build our legacy.

Learn more about becoming a member of the JLC, consider applying to be a Community Partner or support our work by contributing to our Annual Fund.

We appreciate your support. Welcome to the JLC!

Amanda Kohout
